The Human Animal Bond

In late October 2012 we had the first winter rainstorms of that year. A patient of ours at Vets4Pets "Lev Yaffo", a lovely 12 year old Weimaraner dog was home alone when the rainstorm started. Kelev, who has thunderstorm phobia, panicked, jumped out the window, and plunged four stories below.

Kelev survived, and his story is a miracle. He fell four floors, was treated at the Veterinary Hospital in Beit Dagan and by Dr. David, and lived. After a month that included hospitalized intensive care, rehabilitation at home, and endless nursing care by his dedicated owner, this amazing dog was able to get up, hobble about, go pee on newspapers, and he never missed an opportunity to lick a visitor’s face. He has ‘made it’ through the aid of modern medical technological care, and through alternative healing, and also through the love of his devoted owner for him, and his love for his owner.

The bond between people and animals is very powerful. It brings positive health benefits and healing to both sides. There is no doubt that without this bond, Kelev would not have survived.

Dr. David has been a practicing companion-animal veterinarian for over thirty years. He is gratified to be part of this amazing human-animal bond. It is the work of helping to heal and strengthen this bond between people and their pets that gives David the energy and passion in his work as a veterinarian.

Kelev’s story is also a lesson for anyone owning pets with thunderstorm phobia - get help for your pet! Nowadays there are medications that can allow pets to be calm and not fearful in a storm. Tell one of our vets if this is an issue for your pet at home in the stormy winter season.

We at Vets4Pets recognize this powerful bond between you and your pets. Our clinic is here to give your pets the best vet care possible, using our skilled, caring, compassionate staff, the latest technology, adding alternative modalities, and with “added value” in everything we do. And we deliver it with great service to you and with a lot of love to your pet.
